TONIGHT:

The Ontario Reign (11-6) and Allen Americans (10-6) take to the ice for the sixth match of the Western Conference Finals, with the series shifting back to Texas. The winner of this series will face the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals (South Carolina leads Toledo in the series 3-2) in the Kelly Cup Finals. This is the first time both teams have appeared in the Conference Finals in ECHL play; Allen previously won back-to-back President's Cups in the Central Hockey League before joining the ECHL for 2014-15. The Reign and Americans split the regular season series at 1-1-0-0.

SCORING FIRST STILL VITAL FOR REIGN:

Despite getting on the board first and surrendering the lead twice in Game 5, the Reign still maintain the most wins when getting the first goal in the postseason (8-2). Helping Ontario is the fact that Allen is the only team in the Conference Finals round that has a negative goal differential in the first period (10gf-14ga).

HOME COOKING:

Sunday's loss brought an end to the longest home win streak in team history at seven games, beginning with Game 2 of the Division Semifinals against Colorado. Ontario has the best home win percentage of any team in the postseason beyond the first two rounds with .778, while the Americans trail in second with .750. What may help Ontario as the series shifts back to Allen is the fact that Ontario has the second highest total in the postseason on the road with an even 4-4 record.

POWER PLAY TREND TAKES A HIT:

Prior to Sunday's game, Ontario had gone 10-1 in games in which it had scored on the man advantage; that record now stands at 10-2. Coincidentally, the Reign are now also 5-5 when surrendering a power play goal to the opposition; when Ontario scores with the power play and prevents its opponents from doing the same, the team is 5-0.
