ABOUT LAST GAME: Fort Wayne shattered the Lugnuts on Sunday, compiling a season-high 20 hits and cruising to a 12-7 victory. Felipe Blanco had a career day. He registered the first 4-for-4 game of his career, and also drove in three runs.
OFFENSIVE PROWESS: Sunday was the most prolific offensive day of the season for the TinCaps. The 20 hits and 12 runs were season highs, but take a look at the other notable numbers from the victory:
- Ten of the 11 Fort Wayne hitters that came to the plate reached base safely
- Nine different players recorded a hit
- An astonishing seven hitters had multi-hit days
- Six batters drove in at least one run
ROAD WARRIORS: If Fort Wayne wins on Monday, it'll be its first road series victory of the season. In fact, the last time the TinCaps won a four-game road series was nearly two years ago. Fort Wayne took three of four games from the Great Lakes Loons from August 17-20 in 2013.
BLISTERING BLANCO: Felipe Blanco had his first 4-hit game of his young career. He also drove in three runs, his first RBI's since May 1st. The three wasn't a season-high for the Valverde, Dominican Republic native. Back on April 22nd, against the same Lansing team, Blanco knocked in four runs - a TinCaps season high.
TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE: Six TinCaps hitters had multi-hit games on Sunday. Nick Torres (16), Michael Gettys (11) and Duanel Jones (11) are the team leaders in that category.
REUNITED IN LANSING: Manager Francisco Morales began his professional career in 1992 in the Chicago Cubs organization. One of his first coaches and mentors with the Cubs was Sandy Alomar Sr., now a roving instructor in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. The two were reunited during the first two games of the series in Lansing.
