Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

NEED TO KNOW: The Round Rock Express (27-15) took a doubleheader from Albuquerque Isotopes (18-26) Sunday afternoon at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, TX, winning game one 5-4 and game two 3-0. The two teams split their four-game series after Albuquerque won the first two games.

THE TURNING POINT, GAME ONE: The Isotopes jumped out to a quick lead after a Cristhian Adames leadoff home run, but Round Rock answered with a run in the home half of the first to tie it. The two teams exchanged runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, but a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth gave the Express the lead and a 5-4 win.

THE TURNING POINT, GAME TWO: A one-out RBI triple by Carlos Arroyo in the second inning proved to be the difference in game two. He would later score on an RBI single by Hanser Alberto to give the Express a 2-0 through just two innings. Round Rock added another run on a solo homer in the fifth to put the game away. Albuquerque never got the offense rolling, falling 3-0.

MR. McBRIDE: The hottest Isotopes hitter of late has been Matt McBride, and he continued his good work on Sunday. McBride went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, an RBI and two runs scored in game one and followed that up with a 1-for-3 performance in game two. He now has hits in a team season high 11 straight games and at least two hits in nine of his last 11 games. During that stretch, McBride is batting .524 (22-for-42) with 14 runs scored, five doubles, four home runs, eight RBI and a walk. He also has hits in 15 of his last 16 games overall.

PARKER PARKED IT: Left fielder Kyle Parker extended his hitting streak to a team season high 11 games with a 1-for-3 performance in game one. He doubled and drove in a run. During his streak, Parker is batting .395 (17-for-43) with three doubles, two homers, and eight RBI. Parker did not play in game two.

ON DECK: The Isotopes will travel to New Orleans to face the Zephyrs in a four-game series beginning tomorrow. Left-hander Chris Rusin (3-2, 6.29) is scheduled to start for Albuquerque, while New Orleans will go with right-hander Jose Urena (4-0, 1.21).

IN THE HOLE: The Isotopes will wrap up this eight-game road trip with a stop in New Orleans to face the Zephyrs. Albuquerque returns home on May 29 for an eight-game homestand against the Omaha Storm Chasers and Iowa Cubs.
