Modesto, CA. - The Modesto Nuts could not hold a late lead and fell 5-3 against the Visalia Rawhide on Saturday night at John Thurman Field in front of a sellout crowd of 4,620.
With the Nuts (21-22) up by a run in the eighth, Konner Wade (L, 2-4) had been throwing well. In the eighth, the Nuts' starter allowed a RBI single to Daniel Palka that tied the game and knock him out. Matt Carasiti followed Wade to the mound and gave up a single to Kevin Cron before Stewart Ijames whacked the go-ahead three-run homer for the Rawhide (31-12).
Wade finished with a line of 7.1 innings pitched, six hits and three runs allowed while striking out four and walking two.
Jordan Patterson clubbed a double and a solo home run. Ryan McMahon added three hits including a double. Wilson Soriano and Correlle Prime each added a RBI groundout.
Blayne Weller (W, 3-3) tossed seven innings for the Rawhide and allowed just two runs with eight strikeouts. Nick Sarianides (S, 7/8) tossed a perfect ninth inning with two K's.
