Fresno Grizzlies News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - The game looked about over with two outs in the 11th and Fresno trailing by one, but Alex Presley and Tyler Heineman connected on back-to-back singles and then Joe Sclafani took a R.J. Alvarez pitch off his leg to load the bases. With two outs and the count 3-2 to Robbie Grossman, he ripped a two-run game-ending single to center to hand the Fresno Grizzlies (24-18) a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Nashville Sounds (16-26) Saturday night in front of 8,251 fans at Chukchansi Park.

Fresno went 0-9 with runners in scoring position up until the Grossman single, leaving the bases loaded in the 10th, runners on first and second in the 9th, and runners on second and third in the 8th. Nashville starter Brad Mills tossed seven scoreless innings before handing the game off to reliever Seth Frankoff, who was charged the tying run when Joe Sclafani's ground out to second was deep enough to plate Duffy in the eighth.

Fresno starter Tommy Shirley allowed one run on two hits and struck out seven over six innings. Relievers Mitch Lambson and Jason Stoffel both followed with two scoreless innings apiece, while Richard Rodriguez was charged a run when he gave up an RBI double to Kent Matthes that scored Alden Carrithers from first to make it 2-1 in the top of the 11th.

The Grizzlies are in position to win their third series in a row Sunday afternoon when they take on the Sounds at 2:05 p.m. PT at Chukchansi Park. Right-hander Dan Straily (2-3, 4.33) takes the ball for Fresno, while Nashville tosses righty Chris Bassitt (1-2, 3.86), who was acquired from the White Sox this past offseason in the Jeff Samardzija trade. Gates to the park open at 11:30 a.m. for the Tribute to Selena pregame concert, featuring Elena Y Los Tejano Ryders. The Grizzlies will also welcome special guest Ana Laura to the game that'll include Selena inspired in-game entertainment. After the conclusion of the game, Lucha Xtreme wrestling takes over the ballpark. The purchase of a Sunday Grizzlies game ticket grants entrance into the pregame concert, Sounds vs. Grizzlies game, and postgame Lucha Xtreme wrestling show.
