JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (15-27) were shutout for the eighth time this season after falling to the Mississippi Braves (24-18) 6-0 Saturday night from Bragan Field.

Braves starter Jorge Reyes (W, 5-2) tossed five scoreless innings allowing three hits while not walking a batter and striking out four. Austin Brice (L, 1-4) generated four frames surrendering five earned runs on eight hits while walking three and striking out a pair of batters for Jacksonville.

The scoring would begin in the top of the first when Mississippi had runners on second and third after a walk to Chris O'Dowd, and a double by David Rome, set the table for KD Kang's two-run single to leap his squad out to an early 2-0 lead. Next batter Kevin Ahrens would extend the Braves advantage after mashing a RBI double to set the Suns deficit at 3-0.

In the third the Braves tacked on a pair of runs courtesy of a RBI sacrifice fly by Emerson Landoni that scored KD Kong who lead off the frame with a single. With pitcher Jorge Reyes at the plate, a wild 2-6-5-4 putout of Eric Garcia allowed time for Seth Loman to score from third and give the Braves a 5-0 lead.

Flashing ahead to the seventh, Mississippi plated a solo run courtesy of Kevin Ahrens' run scoring double that made the tally 6-0.

Lefty reliever Matt Tomshaw entered in the fifth, and churned out a pair of scoreless frames allowing one hit while striking out a batter for Jacksonville. Brian Ellington worked two innings in relief relinquishing one earned run. Lay Batista put together a scoreless ninth frame for the Suns.
