Somerset Patriots News Release

Bridgewater, NJ- Somerset Patriots ace right-handed pitcher Mickey Storey has had his contract purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and will report to Double-A.

Storey was the Atlantic League's leading pitcher this season with a 4-0 ERA, a 0.93 ERA, and 23 strikeouts in 29.0 innings pitched in five games started. He also had a complete game shutout and an opposing batting average of .106 against him.

"Mickey came in here with the desire to start and I think it opened up a lot of doors for him. He did an outstanding job for us. I hope the Dodgers make him a priority in their organization and give him the opportunity to pitch in the Major Leagues once again. Mickey is ready and deserves the chance. We wish him all the best," said Brett Jodie, Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Storey brought two years of prior Major League service into his first season with the Patriots. The righty made his Major League debut in 2012 with the Houston Astros, carrying a 3.86 earned run average over 26 relief appearances.

The following year, Storey made three appearances with the Toronto Blue Jays. Overall, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida native has made 29 appearances in the majors, striking out 40 batters over 34.1 innings pitched.

Storey began his career in the Oakland Athletics organization. In 2009, the Florida Atlantic University alum parlayed a 1.22 ERA over 51.2 innings into an ascent from Single-A Kane County to Triple-A Sacramento. Last year, he split time in the Blue Jays organization between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo.

Storey owns a 3.05 ERA with 41 saves and 400 strikeouts over 375.1 innings pitched in his seven seasons in the minors.

In other team news, the Somerset Patriots have signed right-handed pitcher Brett Brach and activated him for Saturday night's game against the York Revolution.

Brach appeared in one game for Somerset in 2014 before signing with the Washington Nationals organization. In his one start with the Patriots, he picked up the win, allowing just two hits in five scoreless innings pitched.

Before his time in Somerset, the Freehold, New Jersey native had time in the Cleveland Indians organization, reaching the Triple-A level in three seasons.

Brach has a minor league career 3.75 ERA and 428 strikeouts in 671.1 innings pitched in 136 games.
