San Antonio Missions News Release

Frisco outlasted San Antonio 4-3 in 11 innings Friday night in the opener of a four-game series at Wolff Stadium.

The RoughRiders opened scoring Friday with a pair of second-inning runs off Mission right-hander Elliot Morris. Drew Robinson drove in the first run when he followed a leadoff single by Jorge Alfaro with a double into left center. Three batters later, Robinson scored on a Luis Mendez sacrifice fly.

Frisco pushed its lead to 3-0 in the third courtesy of an RBI single by designated hitter Nomar Mazara.

San Antonio got one back in their half of the third against starter Jose Leclerc on Trea Turner's RBI infield single. The hit extended Turner's on-base streak to a career-high, tying 21 games.

Two innings later, the Missions drew even thanks to a two-run double by the red-hot Hunter Renfroe, who finished with a career-high four hits.

The score remained locked at three until the top of the 11th, when Preston Beck's groundout against reliever Dennis O'Grady (0-2) with the bases loaded, scored Robinson with the winning run.

David Martinez (1-1) earned the win for the 'Riders with two and a third shutout innings of one-hit ball.

San Antonio (17-23) resumes its four-game series against Frisco (15-26) Saturday, with first pitch slated for 7:05 PM. Following the game there will be a special fireworks show courtesy of Thomas J. Henry Injury Attorneys. Chris Smith will take the hill for the Missions in his debut with the club. Frisco will counter with fellow righty Alec Asher (1-4, 3.98).

Notes: Renfroe has now hit in five straight games (10-for-17), including three straight multi-hit efforts.
