Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release
Las Vegas, Nev. - Chris Heisey and Andy Wilkins homered, and the Oklahoma City Dodgers bullpen worked four scoreless innings to help lead the Dodgers to a 6-3 win over the Las Vegas 51s Friday night at Cashman Field.
For the second straight night, the Dodgers (27-13) took an early 3-0 lead. In the top of the second inning, O'Koyea Dickson lined a RBI double to left field to put OKC on the board. With two runners on and two outs, pitcher Joe Wieland sent a double to deep center field, scoring both runners. It was Wieland's first hit and RBI's of the season.
The 51s (27-15) were able to pull within one run in the bottom of the inning on back-to-back two-out RBI singles by pitcher Tyler Pill and Danny Muno.
The Dodgers got one run back in the third when Heisey hit a solo home run-his team-leading 10th homer of the season. Heisey also joined Scott Schebler as the only two OKC Dodgers to hit a home run in three consecutive games this season.
Again, the 51s answered in the bottom of the inning, also with a home run. Alex Castellanos went deep to cut OKC's lead back down to one.
Wilkins extended the lead the sixth inning when he sent a two-run blast past the light tower in right field to make it 6-3.
The Dodgers bullpen took over in the bottom of the sixth inning and held the 51s scoreless the rest of the way. Josh Ravin, Danny Coulombe, and David Aardsma combined to allow just two hits, and had just one runner reach scoring position.
Aardsma worked a scoreless ninth to pick up his league-leading 12th save.
Wieland (4-1) allowed three runs and five hits over 5.0 innings to earn his fourth win. He struck out four and walked two, as the Dodgers improved to 6-1 in Wieland's starts this season.
Pill (1-1) ended up with the loss for the 51s, giving up six runs and seven hits over 6.0 innings. He finished with two strikeouts and one walk.
The Dodgers and 51s meet again Saturday night at 9:05 p.m. Central time. Live coverage begins at 8:35 p.m. on AM 1340 "The Game", 1340thegame.com, or through the iHeartRadio mobile app.
