Jackson Generals News Release

Pensacola, Fla. - Jackson held Pensacola to three runs, but the Generals were shut out 3-0 in a loss to the Blue Wahoos on Friday night at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. Jackson grounded into four double plays in the contest, which featured a total of seven twin killings.

Tim Adleman (2-3, 1.41) baffled Jackson hitters all night long, tossing seven shutout innings to earn his second win of the year. The Pensacola righty lowered his earned run average to 1.41, which ranks second in the Southern League.

Kevin Shackelford and Kyle McMyne (S, 4) each pitched a scoreless inning for Pensacola (19-23) to seal the Wahoos' win. It was the fourth time this year that the Generals have been shut out and the third time on this road trip.

Misael Siverio (1-4, 4.35) turned in a solid start for Jackson (17-23), but suffered his fourth loss of the season. The lefty struck out five while giving up two runs on six hits over five innings.

Pensacola scored in each of the first two innings and didn't look back. Ryan Wright doubled off of Siverio with one out in the first inning and came in on an bloop single single from Seth Mejias-Brean to give the Wahoos an early edge.

Zach Vincej led off the second inning with a home run to left field, making it 2-0. It was the second home run for Vincej in as many day after he hit a three-run shot in Thursday's game. Vincej entered the contest without a long ball in 19 games, and he hit just one all of last season with Bakersfield in the California League.

Siverio pitched three scoreless innings to finish off his outing before handing the reigns over the Moises Hernandez. Hernandez saw his stretch of 12-straight scoreless innings in relief come to an end when he surrendered a solo home run to Kyle Skipworth in the sixth inning that put the Wahoos in front 3-0.

Grady Wood pitched a flawless eighth inning out of the bullpen for Jackson, striking out a pair in a perfect eighth on just 12 pitches.

The Generals offense put a man on base in each of their nine at-bats, but good defense from Pensacola kept Jackson off the board. Jackson grounded into four double plays in the game, tying a season high. Jackson stranded nine men on the bases, and the Generals are now 1-for-16 with men in scoring position in the first two games of the series.

Tyler Smith and Jack Reinheimer were bright spots for the Jackson offense. Both had a pair of hits in the contest, and Smith walked for a team-leading 25th time. Reinheimer leads the squad with 15 multi-hit games and he improved his average in May to .329.

Jackson will try to avoid losing the series Saturday night in the middle game against the Blue Wahoos. The Generals will face top Reds prospect Robert Stephenson (2-4, 5.45), while Jackson has not yet announced a starter for the game. First pitch from Pensacola Bayfront Stadium is scheduled for 6:35 pm and you can listen to all the action live on the TJ Network (AM 1390, FM 94.1 and 94.3) starting with the Tennessee Army National Guard Pregame Show at 6:20 pm.

After this 11-game, 10-day road trip, the Generals return home on Tuesday, May 26 for five games with the Montgomery Biscuits. That series is headlined by a Two-For-Tuesday (May 26), State Farm Agent Wes Harris Dollar Night (May 28) and Night of Heart with Fireworks (May 30) presented by the West Tennessee Heart & Vascular Center!
