Otters Power Past the Freedom

Florence Y'alls News Release
(Evansville, IN) - The Florence Freedom (5-2), presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, managed only two hits and starter Jake Stephens (0-1) had a rough outing as they fell to the Evansville Otters (5-2) by a final score of 10-1 Friday night.
Stephens' troubles began in the second inning as Chris Sweeney hit a two-run home run off the scoreboard in left center field. Florence did get one back in the top of the third as Gaby Juarbe started things with a walk. Travis Weaver singled him to third and Juarbe would come around to score on a RBI grounder from Daniel Fraga.
Evansville would pull away in the bottom of the third. With two outs and a man on second, Shayne Houck doubled down the left field line to drive in a run. Then Nik Balog singled him home to make it 4-1. But the Otters weren't done. After Sweeney singled, Kurt Wertz Jr. launched a three-run home run to push the lead to 7-1.
Stephens retired the side in order in the fourth but Evansville plated three more in the fifth, highlighted by a Wertz two-RBI double.
Pete Levitt tossed three and a third innings of shutout ball to finish the game but it was too late for the Freedom as the 10-1 lead for Evansville held.
Preston Olson (2-0) tossed six innings of one-run ball to pick up the win for the Otters.
The Freedom will try to even the series Saturday night as they send rookie right-hander David Duncan (0-0, 9.00 ERA) to the mound. First pitch is set for 7:35 p.m. eastern time. Fans can tune in at http://mixlr.com/florencefreedom/.
