SeaWolves Struck Down by Thunder

Erie drops the first game of the four game home stand with the Trenton Thunder by a score of 8-6.

Trenton started the scoring in the top of the first inning. After a groundout, Taylor Dugas would hit a ground rule double into the Erie bullpen. Erie starter Austin Kubitza would walk the next batter Aaron Judge and Ali Castillo would send a ground ball that would score Judge on a fielder's choice putting the Thunder up 1-0.

Trenton would strike for two more in the second, led by a Dan Fiorito double (5). The Thunder would then rake together two base hits, one by Jose Rosario, which would score Firoito, the other by Jake Cave, which sent Rosario to third. A ground ball by Taylor Dugas would then score Rosario from third increasing the Trenton lead to 3-0.

It was all Thunder early in the game as they would again tack two more runs in the fourth inning increasing their lead to 5-0. Scoring in the fourth for Trenton was led by a Francisco Arcia singe. Arcia singled, was moved to second by a bunt single by Rosario, and then scored on a line drive single by Dugas. A ground out by Judge would bring home Rosario putting the Thunder up 5-0.

Erie would finally answer with two runs of their own in the fifth as Brandon Harris would reach on a error to start the inning. Josh Prince would then double on a line drive down the left field line putting Harris to third with one out. A ground ball by Wynton Bernard would score Harris putting the 'Wolves on the board. Curt Powell would then reach on an error that would score Prince cutting the Erie deficit to 5-2.

Trenton would then answer in the top of the sixth putting up two runs of their own. Rosario would lead the inning off with a single, but he would be retired at second on a force out ground ball by Jake Cave. Cave would then swipe second putting him into scoring position. After two walks Eric Jagielo would single up the middle-scoring Cave. Castillo would the send a sacrifice fly to center scoring Taylor Dugas. Thunder would go up 7-2.

Erie would make a push in the seventh by putting up four runs, this cut the Trenton lead to only one. A walk issued Harris and Prince would start the inning, and a Wynton Bernard double(10) would score both. The day would be done for Trenton starter Brady Lail as he would be pulled after six complete. A sac bunt from Connor Harrell would move Bernard to third and Powell, who had walked, to second. Dean Green would walk and a Jason Krizan single would bring home Bernard capping off a four run inning for Erie.

The four run fourth would not be enough for Erie as Trenton would add an insurance run in the top of the eighth increasing their lead to 8-6. The Thunder would shut out the 'Wolves in the bottom half of the eighth and ninth to seal the 8-6 victory.

Brady Lail get the win on the mound for the Thunder improving to 2-2 as Austin Kubitza would take the loss for Erie moving his record to 1-4.
