Saltdogs Enter 15th Season at Haymarket Park

May 22, 2015 - American Association (AA)
Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

The Saltdogs enter their 15th season at Haymarket Park on Monday at 6:35 pm when they play host to Gary South Shore Railcats.

The Saltdogs are coming off a Central division title and a trip to the American Association Championship Series.

The 'Dogs return 10 of the 23 players from the 2014 roster, including franchise steals leader Matt Forgatch and last year's hits and doubles leader Brian Joynt. Lincoln also brings back Dutch slugger Curt Smith, a star on the international stage, returning for his third tour with Lincoln (2011 and 2013). Mitch Canham, a two-time CWS champion at Oregon State, signed on to shore up the catching position. To centerpiece an already potent lineup, the Saltdogs made a huge splash acquiring C.J. Ziegler from Winnipeg. Ziegler, a 6-5, 250 pound bopper, was the 2013 league MVP and set the long ball record with 30.

In addition to the exciting 2015 roster, Saltdogs fans have a jam-packed slate of promotions to get excited about as well. Every home Wednesday game: $1 hot dogs; every Thursday: $1 Pepsis and Busch light cans; every Friday: Fireworks! The team is giving away souvenirs every Saturday home game as well, including two different Saltdogs jerseys. This summer figures to be quite the celebration of 15 terrific years at Haymarket Park.

The 'Dogs open the season on the road tonight against the Kansas City T-Bones. Catch all the play-by-play on KFOR 1240 AM and now with the TuneIn app (via KFOR 1240) on your smart phone or tablet!
