Indy Eleven News Release

INDIANAPOLIS (Friday, May 22, 2015) - Indy Eleven Professional Soccer and IndyFringe are proud to announce the schedule of events surrounding the grand opening of the Indy Eleven Theatre, Indianapolis' newest arts and entertainment venue located in the city's bustling Mass Ave neighborhood.

"Everyone at Indy Eleven is beyond excited to help our tremendous partner IndyFringe officially open the Indy Eleven Theatre," said Indy Eleven owner Ersal Ozdemir. "The arts are a vital part of Indianapolis' culture and continued growth as a city, and the arts community here is strong and getting stronger. The opening of the Indy Eleven Theatre will allow IndyFringe to provide more opportunities for local, regional and national artists to showcase their wonderful talents to audiences here in Central Indiana."

The festivities will kick off on Wednesday, May 27, from 4:30-5:30 p.m., when arts enthusiasts are invited to join IndyFringe for a celebration of the official Grand Opening celebration of the Indy Eleven Theatre, located at 719 E. St. Clair Street adjacent to IndyFringe's existing Basile Theatre structure. During the meet-and-greet event, IndyFringe and Indy Eleven will welcome members of the Mass Ave community in honoring those who contributed to the expansion of IndyFringe's physical footprint.

Frank Basile, chair of the IndyFringe Capital Campaign, believes this vision to improve the IndyFringe Basile Theatre through the construction of adjoining public spaces will have a profound effect on the beautiful and historically rich nearby neighborhoods and the businesses of Mass Ave.

"This is a win-win relationship for both organizations - and Indianapolis - for many reasons. The involvement of Ersal brings additional resources to realize the dream of two theatres and a community space on the fringe of Mass Avenue," Basile said. "Both IndyFringe and Indy Eleven welcome Indianapolis residents of all ages, and, in particular, embrace young families. Together we can continue to build a community of sports fans, artists and audiences."

Indy Eleven will take over the neighboring Basile Theatre venue on Friday, May 29, when "Indiana's Team" will host a screening of the movie Next Goal Wins, the story of the American Samoa Men's National Team when it was under the direction of current Tampa Bay Rowdies head coach Thomas Rongen. The free screening of the movie will take place from 6:30-8:00 p.m., and will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Rongen himself, starting at approximately 8:10 p.m. Tickets for this event are free, but due to limited space in the venue, fans interested in attending can click here to RSVP online.

The activities round out on Saturday, May 30, from 12:00-5:00 p.m., when IndyFringe will host an Open House showing both the IndyFringe Basile and Indy Eleven Theatres in addition to the new Trailhead that is a new spur of the Cultural Trail. There will be fun and entertainment for all ages during the free Open House, including performances from IndyFringe performers in the Indy Eleven Theatre; movie screenings in the IndyFringe Basile Theatre; and food and drink outside on the Alley, as well as face painting, roaming magicians, and faeries from the Fishers Renaissance Fair.

Next week's events are the fruition of the unique partnership struck up between Indy Eleven and IndyFringe, merging the worlds - and audiences - of sports and the arts in Indianapolis. Through a generous donation from team owner Ersal Ozdemir last July, Indy Eleven secured the naming rights to IndyFringe's new venue, at once deepening the club's bonds to the local community and assisting the performing arts organization in an expansion of space vital to its continued growth.
