BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Following his first win of the season, Stockton Ports left-hander Dillon Overton (1-1) suffered through his worst outing as a pro on Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Overton allowed a career-high eight runs on 10 hits as the Bakersfield Blaze took the rubber match of a three-game series with the Ports by a final of 8-3.

The Blaze scored all of their runs over the first two innings beginning with a pair in the first. With two outs, Tyler O'Neill hit a solo homer to left to give the Blaze a 1-0 lead. Guillermo Pimentel followed with a double and scored on an ensuing error committed by shortstop Franklin Barreto to make it a 2-0 lead.

Bakersfield scored six runs on eight hits in the second. With one on and one out, Luis Caballero lined an RBI single to center. Ian Miller and Tim Lopes followed with singles and O'Neill drove in two more with a double to left. Two batters later, Tyler Marlette and Austin Wilson hit back-to-back RBI doubles to left to run the Blaze lead to 8-0.

Overton suffered the loss after allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits while striking out three in three innings.

Matt Stalcup and Trevor Bayless each tossed three scoreless innings in relief of Overton, allowing only one hit the remainder of the contest.

Blaze starter Carlos Misell (2-2) retired the first nine batters he faced and set the side down in order in four of the six innings in which he pitched. He went on to earn the victory, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out three.

Brett Ash took over in the seventh and, with Matt Chapman at third base and two outs, gave up a single to B.J. Boyd that put the Ports on the board at 8-1. Ash allowed an additional run in the eighth when Brett Vertigan scored from third base with two outs in a wild pitch. Ash allowed two runs on four hits in two innings of work.

Will Mathis entered to pitch the ninth for the Blaze and gave up a leadoff home run to Chapman to make it 8-3. Mathis retired the next three batters in order to end the ballgame.

The Ports continue their road trip on Friday in Lake Elsinore as they begin a four-game series with the Storm. Lou Trivino (2-2, 5.52 ERA) makes the start for Stockton, opposed by Lake Elsinore right-hander Kyle Lloyd (1-1, 4.97 ERA). First pitch is set for 7 p.m. PDT.
