Houchins Knocks Around Rattlers in Finale

(Burlington-IA)- Zach Houchins was a homer shy of the cycle Thursday night in a Bees' 6-3 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Community Field.
Bees' outfielder Caleb Adams reached, in the bottom of the first inning, with a walk and moved into scoring position by stealing second. With two outs, Zach Houchins lined a double down the left field line, scoring Adams, putting the Bees on the board with a 1-0 lead.
A walk go things moving for the Bees once again, this time in the second inning. After Wade Wass led off with a walk and then stole second, Juan Moreno picked up his first hit as a Burlington Bee, shooting a double to right center, scoring Wass, upping the lead to 2-0.
Caled Adams worked his second walk of the night, to lead off the bottom of the third. A wild pitch moved Adams to second for Zach Houchins, who chopped a single to center, scoring Adams, extending the Bees' lead to 3-0.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers put runs on the board in back-to-back innings, when Francisco Castillo drove in Elvis Rubio with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Jacob Gatewood cut the Bees lead to just a run, in the fifth inning, with a solo home run to left center, making the score 3-2.
The Bees responded in the bottom of the fifth inning when Andrew Daniel punched a single to right, scoring Juan Moreno, and Zach Houchins tripled to right, scoring Daniel, giving the Bees a three run lead again, at 5-2. The Bees added their sixth run of the night in sixth inning, when Juan Moreno grounded a single to left scoring Fran Whitten, pushing the lead to 6-2.
Wisconsin added their final run in the ninth on a Brandon Diaz double but the Bees hung on for a 6-3 win. Keynan Middleton (2-1) picked up the win and Devin Williams (0-2) was charged with the loss. The Bees hit the road to take on the Clinton LumberKings Friday night at 6:30. Austin Robichaux takes the hill for the Bees against Jeffeson Medina for Clinton.
