Gameday elements will include Heroesâ?? Day recognition, Cascade Lacrosse helmet auction

DENVER - The Denver Outlaws (3-2) will host the Chesapeake Bayhawks (3-2) in a Heroes' Day appreciation on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High with faceoff set for 7:05 p.m. MST. The game is sponsored by U.S. Bank and Illegal Pete's and will be broadcast on Altitude Sports.

As part of the Heroes' Day appreciation game the Denver Outlaws will honor military personnel along with local police and fire men and women throughout the game.

The team has partnered with Cascade Lacrosse to auction off two official signed helmets during the matchup on Sunday. The remaining helmets will be worn by Outlaws players during the game and auctioned off online for seven consecutive days beginning Tuesday, May 26, at 3 p.m. MDT.

All proceeds will benefit Freedom Service Dogs, a nonprofit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by rescuing dogs and custom training them for individual client needs. Freedom Service Dogs are trained to perform more than 50 custom commands, and are provided at no cost to the client. For more information visit www.freedomservice.org.

The Outlaws have partnered with local restaurant Illegal Pete's to host a Major League Eating event after the game.

The competition will feature 14 competitors including, four of the top-10 ranked Major League Eaters in the world: Joey "Jaws" Chestnut (No. 1), Miki Sudo (No. 4), Adrian "The Rabbit" Morgan (No. 7) and Michelle Lesco (No. 9). Also participating are three amateur eaters including, Michael "Tree" Simon, defenseman for the Outlaws, Jamie Markham, a Colorado firefighter and Sean Furlong, a contestant chosen by Illegal Pete's.

During the contest competitors will have a 10-minute window to consume as many 8 oz. burritos possible, supplied by Illegal Pete's. The winner will be awarded $5,000 provided by U.S. Bank.

After the MLE event, a fireworks display will take place at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
