Altoona Curve News Release

PORTLAND, Maine - Jason Creasy (4-0) and the Curve pitching staff returned to normalcy on Wednesday night, holding Portland to one run on six hits in a, 2-1, win to end a three-game losing streak. Creasy dealt a season-high seven innings while giving up one run on six hits to guide the Curve.

The starter was given early run support in the first when Edward Salcedo doubled home Keon Broxton from third with two outs. Creasy kept Portland at arm's length until the Curve could add another run in the fifth when Josh Bell brought home Broxton with a two-out single through the middle of the diamond to make it, 2-0.

Creasy allowed his only run in the sixth when former Curve IF/OF Oscar Tejeda, who is once again back with Portland, singled home Mike Miller. Creasy worked out of the jam though with some help from Eric Wood, who threw out Tejeda at home later in the inning, and went on to finish his seven strong innings.

John Kuchno pitched a perfect eighth and Yhonathan Barrios a perfect ninth to complete the win. Barrios now has nine saves in as many opportunities.

Dan Gamache extended his hit streak to eight games in the win while Broxton and Max Moroff each recorded another multi-hit game.

With the series even at a game apiece, the Curve (23-14) look to take the series from Portland (16-23) in the 6 p.m. series finale on Thursday. LHP Zack Dodson (2-1, 1.75), who struck out eight batters in seven shutout innings on 78 pitches last time out, makes the start in the series finale. Portland will send RHP Joe Gunkel (0-0, 8.10) to make his first Double-A start.

Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
