Centeno Stymies 'Caps in 9-2 Win

BOWLING GREEN, KY - Henry Centeno bounced back from his worst start of the season to pitch over six innings of one-run baseball as the West Michigan Whitecaps fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods 9-2 Wednesday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

The Hot Rods jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings highlighted by Casey Gillaspie's two-run single and a double from Justin Williams to score two runs in the third. West Michigan got their first run in the fourth on Mike Gerber's RBI-double. Gerber currently leads the Midwest League with 30 RBI. In the seventh, Hot Rods third baseman Jace Conrad launched his sixth home run a day after a game-winning inside-the-park home run.

Centeno (2-2) picked up the win after pitching 6.1 innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven. In his last start, Centeno gave up eight runs on ten hits in an 11-0 Whitecaps win May 13. Ladwig (3-4) gave up six runs in six innings while suffering his fourth loss of 2015. The Whitecaps record falls to 19-21, while Bowling Green moves to 24-16.
