Bluefish Lose Opener Of Twin Bill

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 20, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (13-11) were stymied all game long at the plate as they fell to the Somerset Patriots (16-7) 11-0 at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, New Jersey in the first game of a day/night doubleheader. Bridgeport has now lost three consecutive games following a season-high five game winning streak.

Starting Pitcher Shairon Martis (0-1) was tagged with the loss in his Bluefish debut, allowing eight runs (one earned run) in just two-thirds of an inning pitched, giving up seven hits, walking two and striking out one. Starting Pitcher David Harden received a no-decision for the Patriots, pitching four scoreless innings, surrendering just two hits. The win in relief went to Paul Smyth (2-0), as he tossed two innings without allowing a run, walking one batter. The' Fish managed just two hits in the game, one each for Nick Van Stratten and Jobduan Morales. It was just the second time this season that the Bluefish have been shutout, both times coming at the hands of the Patriots at TD Bank Ballpark. The Bluefish lost 1-0 in ten innings on May 8th on the road against Somerset.

No rest for the weary as Bridgeport battles the Patriots in the nightcap of the doubleheader at TD Bank Ballpark later on this evening. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The 'Fish return home to The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Friday, May 22nd when they welcome in the Sugar Land Skeeters to open up a four game holiday weekend wraparound series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
