Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

FOUR SCORE AND A GRAND SLAM AGO: A third-inning grand slam by Tyler Austin was not enough on Tuesday night as the Charlotte Knights edged the RailRiders at PNC Field, 5-4. The loss snapped the RailRiders' season-long winning streak at five.

FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME: Matt Tracy (0-1) suffered his first loss after yielding five runs on nine hits across 4.1 innings. SWB owned a 3-1 record in his first four starts. Tracy had not lost since an Aug. 11, 2014 nod versus Louisville.

ALL GOOD THINGS: The RailRiders carried a season-long 27-inning scoreless streak into the second frame before a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to center by Drew Garcia ended the run. The Knights built a 4-0 advantage with run-producing singles by Leury Garcia, Neftali Soto and Dan Black. Charlotte tried for two on Black's single, but Ben Gamel threw out Jason Coats at the plate to end the inning.

LOAD 'EM UP: SWB loaded the bases against starter Brad Penny (3-3) in the third. A walk to Ramon Flores was sandwiched by singles from Gamel and Rob Refsnyder. Penny whiffed Kyle Roller for the first out of the inning before Austin stepped to the plate and crushed a pitch over the center-field wall.

GRANNY SHOTS: Austin's grand slam was the first by a RailRider since Rob Segedin hit a bases-loaded bomb off of Gwinnett's Pedro Beato on July 22, 2014 in suburban Atlanta. It was the first grand slam hit by an SWB player at PNC Field since a May 17, 2010 effort by Jesus Montero. That home run also came against Charlotte, a first-inning shot with two outs off of Matt Zaleski.

INTERNATIONAL (LEAGUE) MAN OF MYSTERY: Austin's grand slam was his second home run of the season and his first grand slam since Aug. 30, 2012 while with Advanced-A Tampa against Detroit's Florida State League affiliate, Lakeland. That roundtripper came against lefty Matt Crouse.

LOST: The RailRiders lost their longest winning streak since the 2014 squad won five in a row from Aug. 15-19. That streak saw SWB sweep Pawtucket in four games at McCoy Stadium alongside a home win over Syracuse.

LET'S GET HIM ON: Rob Refsnyder singled twice, walked once and scored a run as he extended the IL's best on-base streak of the year to 20 games. His run started in game two of the April 25 doubleheader versus Pawtucket. In that time, he has hit .393 while posting an OBP of .469 and 13 of his 16 RBIs. No IL player has assembled a better on-base streak in 2015. Both Charlotte's Dan Black (Apr. 11-May 7) and Toledo's Daniel Fields (Apr. 17-May 12) had 20-gamers that halted earlier this month. On Monday, Refsnyder was named the IL's Batter of the Week for May 11-17. The second baseman hit .400 with a league-best six extra-base hits and 22 total bases. He hit safely in all seven games played for his first such honor at the Triple-A level.

HIT IT: Refsnyder entered today's tilt on a 10-game hitting streak. to tie his own April 25-May 6 string as the longest by a 2015 RailRider. He is tied with Charlotte's Jason Coats (May 9-Present) and Rochester's Argenis Diaz (May 11-Present) for the IL's best active hitting streak.

OFF THE RAILS: Slade Heathcott delivered a pinch-hit single to start the home ninth...He entered last night in a 3-for-30 (.100) slump...Danny Burawa tossed 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen...He has not allowed an earned run in all but two of his 17 outings...He has allowed just 13 hits in his 22.2 innings for a .167 batting average against and owns a 2.3:1 GO:AO ratio.
