Skole Homers Twice in Senators Loss

May 19, 2015 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

Matt Skole hit two home runs and drove in three runs, but the Harrisburg Senators left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth of a 7-6 loss to the Binghamton Mets, Tuesday at Metro Bank Park. The Senators (15-22) led 5-3 after six innings, but a four-run seventh inning propelled the Mets to victory.

Skole hit his first homer of the evening on a high fly ball over the left-center field fence. The two-run homer started a four-run second inning for Harrisburg that included a two-run double by Tony Renda. Skole's second home run was a long shot off the scoreboard in right field to extend Harrisburg's lead to 5-3.

The Senators attempted to rally in the ninth inning as Pedro Severino reached on an error and Adrian Sanchez singled to start the frame. Pinch-hitter Ricky Hague singled in a run, and Caleb Ramsey sacrificed runners to second and third with one out. Renda was intentionally walked to load the bases, but Brian Goodwin flied out to shallow center field and Mario Lisson struck out to end the game. Lisson, however, did extend his hit streak to 10 games with a second-inning single

Paolo Espino turned in his third quality start of the season with six innings of three-run baseball. Espino struck out five and walked none. Unfortunately for Harrisburg in the seventh, Binghamton started the inning with a home run and two doubles off James Simmons to tie the game at five. Gilberto Mendez entered and allowed a two-run, go-ahead home run to the first batter he faced. Thanks to a pair of double plays, Paul Demny breezed through two scoreless innings of work to keep Harrisburg close.

Tomorrow's game will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the pregame show beginning at 10:15 a.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
