El Paso Chihuahuas News Release
The Fresno Grizzlies hit six home runs in their 12-2 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Tuesday afternoon. It was the most home runs the Chihuahuas have ever allowed in a single game. Fresno won three of the four games in the series.
Domingo Santana hit a two-out homer in the top of the first inning to put Fresno ahead 2-0. It was Santana's ninth home run of the season and third against El Paso.
The Grizzlies added three more runs in the top of the third on a solo home run by L.J. Hoes and a two-run, two-out double by catcher Luis Flores. The rally put Fresno ahead 5-0.
Third-inning doubles by Melvin Upton Jr., Alex Dickerson and Brett Wallace helped El Paso get two runs in the bottom of the third to put the score at 5-2. Santana's second homer of the day cleared the batter's eye in center field and put Fresno ahead by four.
In the top of the sixth, Carlos Correa hit a deep fly ball off the Santa Fe Pavilion in right field for his first Triple-A homer, giving Fresno an 8-2 advantage. The Grizzlies tacked on four runs in the final two innings.
Upton went 1-for-4 as the designated hitter in his second injury rehab game.
The Chihuahuas do not play on Wednesday.
