Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - With the Carolina Panthers hosting their first home pre-season game of the season on Saturday, August 22, first pitch of the Charlotte Knights game originally scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from BB&T Ballpark that day, has been shifted to a 12:05 p.m. start time. The change was made to help accommodate fans in and around the Charlotte area.

"We feel that moving our night game up to an afternoon game is best for everyone in the Uptown Charlotte area," said Charlotte Knights GM Scotty Brown. "We did this last August to help accommodate our fans, alleviate traffic and congestion, and it worked out well. The change also gives fans a chance to spend all day in the Uptown area to enjoy both a Knights game and a Panthers pre-season game."

During the team's last 12:05 p.m. home game on Wednesday, May 13, BB&T Ballpark welcomed 9,601 fans through the gates. The team's Uptown Charlotte kingdom, which officially opened on April 11, 2014, was recently named "Best Ballpark in Minor League Baseball" by Baseball America. The Knights are currently leading Minor League Baseball in attendance this year with 206,568 fans through 22 games. The Knights are averaging 9,389 fans per game, which is also the highest in Minor League Baseball this season.

Gates will now open at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22nd as the Knights host the Indianapolis Indians (Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates) in game three of their four-game series. Single-game tickets for this game, as well as all games this season, are available by phone at 704-274-8282, online at www.charlotteknights.com, or in person at the BB&T Ballpark Ticket Office.
