MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Bartlett, Tenn. native and former Memphis Tigers standout Jacob Wilson was promoted to Triple-A Memphis prior to this morning's game. Wilson will be starting at third base and batting seventh in the Redbirds lineup for Monday morning's 11:35 am matinee against Omaha at AutoZone Park.

The 24-year-old began the season with the Double-A Springfield Cardinals, hitting .225 (27-for-120) with a team-leading seven home runs and 21 RBI in 34 games.

Wilson attended nearby Bartlett (Tenn.) High School, where he was a 2007 TSWA AAA All-State selection. He also led the Panthers to a 40-5 mark and the school's first-ever baseball state championship in 2007.

Wilson played four seasons at the University of Memphis and was named 2012 Conference USA Player of the Year after batting .320 with a league-leading 17 homers and 64 RBI.

The 24-year-old was selected by St. Louis in the 10th round of the June, 2012 First-Year Player Draft and is currently in his fourth professional season.

To make room for Wilson on the Memphis roster, third baseman Scott Moore was unconditionally released by St. Louis. The 31-year-old was hitting .175 (20-for-114) with two home runs and 12 RBI in 34 games this season for the Redbirds.
