Legends Win 3-1 Behind Lovvorn, Goudeau

Lexington starter Zach Lovvorn allowed three hits and one run in seven innings as the Legends took a 3-1 win over the Savannah Sand Gnats Sunday afternoon in Savannah. Lovvorn walked one batter and struck out three in improving his record to 2-4. Ashton Goudeau pitched two scoreless innings in relief and picked up his first save. Goudeau has allowed one earned run in his last five appearances, covering 13 and 2/3 innings.

The Legends won three out of four games in the series.

The Legends took the lead with a run in the second inning. Elier Hernandez and Alfredo Escalera started the inning with singles, and Chase Vallot's sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third. Hernandez scored on Brandon Downes' ground out. The Legends added a run in the fifth on a single by Vallot, a sacrifice by Michael Hill and a throwing error by third baseman J. C. Rodriguez after he fielded a ball hit by Kyle Pollock.

Savannah got its only run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run by Eudor Garcia.

The Legends scored a run in the ninth on a walk to Vallot and a double by Downes, his fifth double in the four-game series. He had nine hits in 16 at bats.

Savannah starter Martires Arias (2-2) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends will move on to Greenville for a three-game series. Game time Monday is 7:05 p.m.
