ABOUT LAST GAME: The TinCaps took the middle game of their set in Bowling Green with a 6-2 win over the Hot Rods. Fort Wayne capitalized on three Bowling Green errors to score four unearned runs. On the mound, starter Thomas Dorminy didn't allow an earned run over 5 2/3 innings and the bullpen worked 3 1/3 scoreless frames.
FTW: With a win, the TinCaps will have won two out of their last three series. Fort Wayne took two of three last weekend against Lansing. A win today would be the TinCaps' first road series victory in 2015.
BOTTOMS UP: Fort Wayne's 6-through-9 hitters (Chase Jensen, Henry Charles, Miguel Del Castillo, and Felipe Blanco) reached base eight combined times on Saturday. The 1-through-5 batters only got on three times.
FINALLY: During their five-game losing streak that ended Saturday, the TinCaps went 3-for-32 (.094) with runners in scoring position. Last night Fort Wayne was still only 2-for-8 in those situations but did receive two-out hits with runners in scoring position from Henry Charles and Chase Jensen.
CHARLIE AND THE HIT FACTORY: Henry Charles had two hits Saturday - his first multi-hit game since May 3. Charles is in the starting lineup today for the first time in consecutive games since May 2-4 when he had three straight starts.
RUNS FOR MDC: Miguel Del Castillo had two hits Saturday and scored two runs in a game for the first time all year. After a four-game hitless streak, the backup catcher has now had two-hit games in each of his last two starts. Today marks the first time Del Castillo is in the lineup for consecutive starts since April 22-23.
BASEBALL HISTORY: On this day in 1939, a sporting event was televised for the first time in U.S. history, as Columbia hosted Princeton at Baker Field in New York. The New York Times reported, "It's difficult to see how this sort of thing can catch the public fancy."
