Houston Dynamo FC News Release

Will Bruin scored twice and Giles Barnes provided the winning goal as the Houston Dynamo scored twice late for a 3-1 win over the Portland Timbers on Saturday at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The Dynamo travel to Southern California to face the LA Galaxy on Friday, May 22 at StubHub Center. Houston will return home to host Manchester City on Thursday, May 28 in the BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup.

Bruin opened the scoring in the ninth minute, rising alone in the box to meet Brad Davis' free kick and drive a low header past Adam Kwarasey for a 1-0 lead.

The Timbers evened the scored three minutes after halftime as Diego Valeri played a through ball to Fanendo Adi and the Nigerian finished inside the far post for the tying goal.

The two teams traded blows for the next 25 minutes until the Dynamo broke through in the 75th minute. DaMarcus Beasley and Davis combined on the left side of the box before Beasley slid a pass to Barnes near the penalty spot. Barnes passed to substitute Alex Lopez, who faked a shot before returning the ball to Barnes for a calm finish from ten yards for his sixth goal of the season on the night he made his 100th career Dynamo appearance. Lopez earned his first assist of the season just a minute after entering the game as a substitute.

Bruin tallied his second goal in spectacular fashion eight minutes later. Jermaine Taylor drove a long ball over the top and Bruin outran Nat Borchers before using one touch for a beautifully chipped shot over Kwarasey from 15 yards to seal the 3-1 win.
