White's Single in 13th Gives Kernels Walk-Off Win

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - T.J. White's RBI single in the 13th inning scored Max Murphy as the Kernels beat Quad Cities 4-3 on Saturday night.
With the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 13th inning, Murphy led off with a double down the left field line. With one out, White's RBI single to right scored Murphy from second base for the victory.
Randy LeBlanc (3-0) recorded the win for the Kernels, tossing two scoreless innings while striking out one and walking two. Jordan Mills (0-1) suffered the loss for the River Bandits. He allowed one run and two hits, recording one out.
Trey Vavra had four hits in the game, going 4-for-6 with one run batted in. White and Tanner English both had two hits for Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first. Tanner English led off frame with an infield single and swiped second for his team-leading 11th stolen base. Nick Gordon then drew a walk. Trey Vavra followed with a single to center, loading the bases for the Kernels. English then scored on a Max Murphy double play ball, putting the Kernels in front of the River Bandits, 1-0.
Quad Cities took the lead in the top of the third with a pair of runs in the top of the third. Bobby Boyd reached on a Kernels one-out fielding error and advanced to third on a Thomas Lindauer single to center, giving the River Bandits runners on the corners. Two batters later, Jamie Ritchie brought in Boyd and Lindauer with a two-out, two run double down the right field line, giving the River Bandits a 2-1 lead.
The Kernels regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the third. Pat Kelly led off the inning with a single to left and advanced to second on an English sacrifice bunt. Gordon then grounded to first, moving Kelly to third with two outs in the inning. Vavra followed Gordon with an RBI single to center, scoring Kelly from third and giving the Kernels a 3-2 lead.
Quad Cities tied the game 3-3 in the seventh inning. Jacob Nottingham doubled to left field to start the frame. Two batters later, Kristian Trompiz tripled off the wall in left to score Nottingham and tie the game.
Felix Jorge started for the Kernels and pitched into the seventh inning. Jorge went 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out three and walking one. Trevor Hildenberger threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, striking out four. Cam Booser pitched two scoreless innings for the Kernels.
Austin Crismon went five innings for the River Bandits. He allowed three runs and six hits as the starter, striking out none and walking one. Daniel Mengden went four scoreless innings in relief. Reymin Guduan tossed three scoreless innings for the River Bandits.
The series concludes on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. RHP Jared Wilson (4-0, 1.98) starts for the Kernels while RHP Joshua James (1-0, 2.66) takes the hill for Quad Cities.
The home stand wraps up with Jimmy John's Run the Bases Sunday (media sponsor 104.5 KDAT). Fans can play catch in the outfield and get autographs from the Kernels on the field after the game.
