Roughnecks Fall Short in Game 1

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Rush defeated the Calgary Roughnecks 10-8 in Game 1 of the West Division final on Friday evening at Rexall Place.

With just over three minutes remaining in regulation, Dane Dobbie scored his second of the night to draw the game even at eight apiece. The Rush then scored two markers over the span of 37 seconds to secure the win.

It was a milestone night for Dobbie who, with his third-quarter marker, notched his 35th career playoff goal to become the franchise's all-time leader, a record previously held by Tracey Kelusky. Calgary also received goals from Curtis Dickson (3), Shawn Evans, Curtis Manning and Daryl Veltman in the setback.

Aaron Bold made 29 saves to record the win while Frankie Scigliano turned aside 35 of 45 shots for the Roughnecks.

The two clubs will now head to Calgary for Game 2 on Saturday, May 23 with a 7:30 p.m. faceoff at the Scotiabank Saddledome. In the event of a series split, a 10-minute tiebreaker game will be played immediately following the conclusion of Game 2 to determine the winner of the playoff series.
