Senators Drop Second Straight to Trenton
May 15, 2015 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
After trailing by four after four innings, and by three after seven innings, the Harrisburg Senators comeback attempt came up just short in a 6-5 loss to the Trenton Thunder Friday night at Arm & Hammer Park in Trenton. Harrisburg (14-20) has lost back-to-back games since tying its season-best three-game winning streak.
The tandem of Brian Goodwin and Mario Lisson once again fueled the Harrisburg offense. Goodwin was 1-for-3 with an RBI triple and three runs scored from the No. 3 spot in the order. In the cleanup spot, Mario Lisson picked up three more RBI on a run-scoring groundout, a sacrifice fly and an RBI double. Lisson has driven in 10 runs in his last five games, and six have come without the benefit of a hit. Lisson's run-scoring double made it 6-4, Trenton, in the top of the eighth inning. Kevin Keyes followed with an RBI single to center field that scored Lisson, and cut Trenton's lead to one. Harrisburg was able to put runners on first and third with two outs in the ninth, but could not score the game-tying run.
In his first start since April 28, Tim Alderson allowed four runs on four hits in two innings of work before leaving with an injury. Colin Bates served Harrisburg well in extended relief, allowing one run on four hits in three innings of work. Bates, however, did allow his only inherited runner from Alderson to score. Relieving Bates was Casey Janssen, who made his second MLB rehab appearance with the Senators. Janssen recorded two outs in the sixth inning, but did not finish the inning due to a pitch limit. Janssen allowed a run on a walk in his outing. Paul Demny followed with his fifth straight scoreless appearance. Demny did not allow a hit and struck out three in two innings. Demny walked two in the eighth inning, and was replaced by Brian Dupra, who worked out of the jam to keep the game within one run into the ninth inning.
Austin Voth will start Saturday's game as Harrisburg looks for its first win of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard starting with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
