Charleston Dirty Birds News Release

(Hagerstown, MD- May 14, 2015) - The West Virginia Power split Thursday's doubleheader against the Hagerstown Suns, taking game one by a 3-0 final and dropping game two 3-0. Despite the twinbill split, the Power lead the season series against the Suns 4-3.

The Power tallied the first runs of the game in the third inning. Chase Simpson led off the inning by getting hit with a pitch and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Elvis Escobar. Simpson scored moments later when Jeff Roy hit a single to left which prompted a throw home that hit Simpson, allowing Roy to advance to third. Roy came across on a Cole Tucker RBI single.

West Virginia tallied their final run of game one in the fourth inning. Michael Suchy led off the inning with his first triple of the season and scored when Pablo Reyes lined a ground-rule double to left.

Yeudy Garcia (1-2) was magnificent in his outing for the Power. The right hander surrendered just two hits over five shutout innings in his first South Atlantic League start to earn the victory. Jefry Rodriguez (0-3) suffered the loss while Power reliever Montana DuRapau tossed two shutout innings to earn his first South Atlantic League save.

Game two saw the Power fall into an early hole that they failed to climb out of. Alec Keller led off the first with a single and scored when Matt Reistetter hit a triple. Reistetter scored one batter later on a groundout, which gave Hagerstown a 2-0 advantage.

The Suns tacked on another run in the third to take a 3-0 lead. Reistetter tallied his second hit of the game, an RBI double to bring home Keller.

West Virginia tallied three hits in the game two loss and stranded five men on base.

Jose Regalado (0-2) suffered the loss for West Virginia in game two after he tossed five innings and allowed all three runs. The right hander struck out five and surrendered seven hits in the outing. Connor Bach (1-0) received the win while Justin Amlong earned his first save of the season.
