Sacramento River Cats News Release

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The River Cats dropped game two of their four game set with the Las Vegas 51s 5-1, pushing their road losing streak to four games. Left-hander Ty Blach started out strong, allowing 2 runs through the first 4 innings, but his night would end on a rough note as he picked up the loss.

Las Vegas got on the board first, when in the bottom of the second with two out and two on, Daniel Muno singled to right field, driving in the first run of the game. Another run would score on the play as right fielder Juan Perez committed a throwing error, allowing the runner from third to score.

The River Cats scored their first run in the top of the third, as Ehire Adrianza drove in Darren Ford with a two out double. The run, however, would be the only one they would push across home plate. Sacramento would have other chances to trim the deficit, but were unable to break through. The River Cats had runners on second and third with two out in the seventh and with no outs in the eighth, but could not manage to convert with runners in scoring position. Overall, they batted just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

Las Vegas pulled away in the middle innings, as they added a run in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to push their lead to four. The big blow came in the sixth when with one out and nobody on, Eric Campbell hit a solo home run off Blach to make the score 5-1. Campbell batted 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.

Blach finished his afternoon pitching 6 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits and one home run, walking 3 and striking out 3. With the loss, Blach drops to 3-3 on the season and his ERA moves to 3.40. Darin Gorski (3-2, 5.63) earned the win for Las Vegas, pitching 6 innings and allowing 1 run (earned) on 4 hits. Gorski struck out 5.

The 51s offense continued to see the ball well as they recorded 12 hits, 4 of which went for extra bases. Las Vegas left only 4 men on base and batted 3-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

The River Cats will look to secure their first victory of the series Thursday night as they send Clayton Blackburn (0-1, 3.60) against Duane Below (2-1, 1.56). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
