RiverKings Revolutionize Non-Profit Program

Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings, the longest continually operating sports franchise in the greater Memphis area, have launched a new and unique MVP Non-Profit Program that will enable them to continue to support local non-profits during the 2015-16 season.

Supporting non-profits has been a staple of the RiverKings organization for years and that connection to the community will strengthen and broaden with the new program. Starting this year, local non-profits can apply to become the MVP Non-Profit of the Night for one of the 26 regular season RiverKings home dates. The application and additional information is available at riverkings.com/mvpnonprofit. Once the application period is over the RiverKings organization will choose 26 MVP Non-Profits and each non-profit will be assigned a game, giving them ample time to start the fundraising ticket sale process.

"A lot of teams have specific nights throughout the year to benefit non-profit organizations, but this program is the first where there is a non-profit focus for every game," RiverKings Director of Business Operations David Schmoll said. "Connecting with our community partners is a key part of our mission in the Mid-South and through the MVP Program we will achieve this objective."

The MVP Non-Profit earns money on both presold and box office ticket sales based on the below criteria.

1-99 tickets: $1.50 per ticket presold + $1.50 per ticket scanned = $3.00

100-199 tickets: $2.50 per ticket presold + $2.50 per ticket scanned = $5.00

200+ tickets: $5.00 per ticket presold + $5.00 per ticket scanned = $10.00

In addition to the MVP earning money through ticket presale, they will also earn $2 for every ticket purchased at the Box Office by a fan wearing the designated color for their night.

Last season the RiverKings raised over $32,000 for area non-profits through their MVP program. The new program will allow for even greater fundraising for the non-profits, while also increasing awareness about the non-profit. MVPs will be included in all game-night advertising including newspaper, radio, television and billboard at no cost to the non-profit.

The Mississippi RiverKings are proud to be the longest, continually operating sports franchise in the Memphis area, as they begin their 24th season in 2015. RiverKings' season tickets for the 2015-16 season are on sale now! Pay off your ticket in full by June 1 to save $115 on parking for the entire 2015-16 season.
