Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Ontario Reign scored an empty-net goal and a power-play goal to defeat the Utah Grizzlies 4-0 Saturday night at Maverik Center. Ontario wins the series four games to one.

"It didn't end the way we wanted it to," said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "We thought we had a team that could go a lot deeper. We ran into a lot of injuries. It really hurt not having Brenden Walker, Danick Paquette, Alex Kruskelnyski and Barry Almeida out there."

Ontario scored three power-play goals in the game along with the empty-netter.

Three of the five games in the series were tied at two going to the third period. Utah outscored Ontario 8-7 five-on-five in the series.

"They worked hard on and off the ice," said Branham. "They were good to each other, and they were good in the community, more importantly. Overall, it was a pretty good season."

Ontario scored a power-play goal 3:04 into the first period and a five-on-three power-play goal late in the second period and that would be enough for Reign goaltender Jussi Olkinuora who stopped all 22 shots that he saw as the Grizzlies were shutout for only the second time in 83 games this season. Olkinuora is the only goaltender to have shutout the Grizzlies this season.

"Hopefully, a lot of guys will be coming back," said Branham. "I like the core we have here. We made strides. We made it further than last year. We're building. With the help of our affiliate, things are looking positive."
