FC Kansas City News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - FC Kansas City (3-2-0, 9 points) won its third consecutive match after defeating the Western New York Flash (1-3-0, 3 points) on Friday in front of 1,802 fans at Sahlen's Stadium. Liz Bogus notched her second tally and second game-winning goal of the season in the 73rd minute, while Nicole Barnhart recorded her third shutout in a row.

Coach Vlatko Andonovski gave amateur call ups Caroline Kastor and Meghan Lisenby some time on the field, while the same starting lineup from last week starred on the field for the Blues.

With this victory, the defending National Women's Soccer League Champions, moved up to the top of the table with 9 points, while the Flash recorded their third defeat of the season besides outshooting the Blues.

Barnhart played an important role in the clean sheet as the home team finished the match with a total of 19 shots, eight of them on goal.

Two minutes into the match, the Flash nearly got on board when defender Kristen Edmonds tried a long distance shot with her left foot from the right side of the field before the ball bounced off the crossbar.

Head coach Aaran Lines' team would continue to test Kansas City's backline throughout the match but were unable to find the back of the net.

On the other hand, one of FC Kansas City's few chances was capitalized in the 73rd minute when Bogus carried the ball down through the left side of the pitch and into the box where she blasted a shot that hit the roof of the net to score the lone goal.

Down a goal and with seconds left in the match, the Flash had one of its best chances of the match when Jaelene Hinkle floated a long ball but neither Edwards nor Camilla Kur were able to connect.

Next up, the Blues and the Flash will meet for a rematch on Thursday at Swope Soccer Village.
