Kamloops Blazers News Release

Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers chose Jackson Shepard and Devan Harrison with the 23rd and 26th overall picks in the WHL Bantam Draft Thursday morning.

Shepard is listed at 5'8" and 155lbs and is from West Vancouver, BC.

The left shot forward played for the North Shore Winter Club Bantam AAA team. In 61 games, Shepard had 32 goals, 79 assists and 111 points.

For the second consecutive year, North Shore Winter Club won the Western Canadian Bantam Championship.

As a first-year Bantam, Shepard had 61 points in 65 games playing with Blazers prospect Nolan Kneen during the 2013-14 season.

"Jackson is a relentless hard-working player that has a great skill set," commented Director of Player Personnel, Matt Recchi. "He is very competitive and always seems to come out of a battle with the puck. He has tremendous speed and plays bigger than his size."

Devan Harrison is a 6'2" defenseman from Dysart, SK. He played this past season for the Prairie Storm in Bantam AA and had 10 goals, 25 assists and 35 points in 31 games.

Harrison also played five games with the Midget AAA Moose Jaw Generals recording a goal and four penalty minutes.

"Devan is a big and strong defenseman that we coveted," said Recchi. "He skates and moves the puck well. We think he will be a steady presence on our backend in the future."
