Ducks Silenced by Bluefish

(Bridgeport, Conn., May 6, 2015) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Bridgeport Bluefish 9-0 on Wednesday night in the middle game of a three-game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Bridgeport opened up a 3-0 lead in the second inning against Ducks starter John Brownell. A RBI single by Luis Rodriguez, a double play ball off the bat of Ildemaro Vargas and a throwing error did the damage. A two-run home run to left field by John Alonso in the third extended the advantage to five.
The Bluefish would add single runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth to round out the scoring. A RBI double by Welington Dotel, a sacrifice fly off the bat of James Simmons, a run-scoring infield single from Ryan Babineau and a RBI groundout by Simmons highlighted the scoring.
Mike Antonini (1-1) earned the win, tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out nine. Brownell (2-1) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs (five earned) in five innings on 10 hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Corona led the Flock with two hits at the plate.
The Ducks and Bluefish wrap up their three-game set on Thursday night. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Right-hander Ian Marshall toes the rubber for the Ducks against Bluefish southpaw Scott Maine. The Ducks will return home on Friday, May 8 to begin a four-game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for season ticket holders). The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Ducks Pin Pennant, as part one of the 2015 Collector's Series.
