'Wolves Outhit Thunder Wednesday Night in Loss

The SeaWolves could not make it three straight wins as they fell to the Trenton Thunder 9-1 on Wednesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Trenton jumped ahead in the bottom of the first against Erie starter Austin Kubitza. Aaron Judge doubled with one out and scored on a Greg Bird double for a 1-0 lead.

The Thunder took control of the game in the last of the fifth, knocking Kubitza out of the game. With one out, Jose Rosario reached on a bunt single and stole second. Kubitza then walked Jake Cave and Judge, loading the bases. Bird was hit by a pitch, plating Rosario making it 2-0. Eric Jaigelo singled home Cave and Judge making it 4-0. With two outs, Mason Williams walked, reloading the bases for Dante Bichette, Jr. Erie turned to the bullpen and brought in Whit Mayberry. Bichette singled home a pair and an error allowed a third run to score, making it 7-0.

Erie's lone run came in the top of the sixth against Trenton starter Brady Lail. Jason Krizan led off with a triple, his second of three hits in the game. Dean Green single to left, scoring Krizan making it 7-1. Erie would get no closer.

Trenton added two more runs in the eighth off of reliever Joe Rogers and went on for the 9-1 win.

Kubitza (1-2) dropped his second straight game. He allowed a season-high seven runs, six earned, on five hits with four walks while equaling a season-high with seven strikeouts.
