Tennessee Smokies News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Chicago Cubs announced an additional series of transactions that impacts their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster prior to tonight's doubleheader against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium in Pensacola, Florida.

Outfielder Albert Almora Jr. has been activated from the Disabled List. Prior to going on the Disabled List on April 27, the 21-year-old compiled a .297 batting average (19-64) with 12 runs scored, three doubles and eight RBI in 16 contests with the Smokies. Almora prior to this season was rated the seventh-best prospect in the Cubs organization by Baseball America.

In a corresponding move, catcher Erick Castillo has been transferred to Single-A Eugene. The backstop has made one pinch hit appearance thus far in 2015 for the Smokies, striking out in that lone plate appearance in the second game of a doubleheader on April 17 versus Pensacola.

The Smokies are set to square off against the Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, this evening in a twinbill, with game one slated to start at 6:35 p.m. ET. RHP Frank Batista (2-0, 1.48) is anticipated to get the nod for Tennessee in the first contest, with Pensacola countering with RHP Robert Stephenson (0-3, 8.31). The Smokies then are expected to send RHP Andres Santiago (0-1, 10.13) to the hill for the nightcap, while RHP Timothy Adleman (0-3, 2.42) is scheduled to take the hill for the Blue Wahoos.

The team is in the midst of an 11-game road trip and will return home to Smokies Stadium on Monday, May 11 to begin an 11-game homestand of their own. Monday's matchup will start a five-game series with the Montgomery Biscuits, the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. ET at Smokies Stadium.

Tickets for that game, as well as all remaining home contests at Smokies Stadium, are still available, and can be purchased online at smokiesbaseball.com, or by calling the Smokies Ticket Office at 865-286-2300.
