Beloit Sky Carp News Release

BELOIT, WI - The Beloit Snappers completed the sweep of their series with the Burlington Bees with a 4-1 victory and got their third straight victory after an 11:00 AM game today.

Beloit got on the board first with a line drive single to right field by Brett Vertigan that brought in Robert Martinez to make the score 1-0 in the second inning.

The Bees kept it close for a while as they scored a run to tie it up at 1-1 in the fourth inning.

The score remained 1-1 until the seventh inning when Yairo Munoz, who came in to the game at the top of the fourth to replace Edwin Diaz at shortstop, hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring in Trent Gilbert for the go ahead run to make it 2-1.

Then in the eighth inning, Sandber Pimentel got up to the plate and hit a two run bomb, his third of the season, on a fly ball to left field that also scored Joe Bennie to make the score 4-1.

Jose Torres came in to pitch for Beloit in the eighth and made sure that Burlington didn't come back as he pitched two hitless innings to get the save, his second of the year.

Beloit's Brett Graves did a great job of keeping Burlington off the scoreboard by pitching six innings, allowing only three hits, and one earned run.

The Snappers are now 13-14 on the season and have won three straight games. Beloit welcomes the Cedar Rapids Kernels, Midwest League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, to town for a three game series.
