Series Shifts to South Dakota for Next Three

Allen Americans News Release
Rapid City, SD - The Allen Americans look to regain home-ice advantage tomorrow night in the first of three at Rushmore Civic Center. The best of seven series is tied 1-1.
The Americans return to the site of the 2010 Finals. Allen won Game 1 of the Central Hockey League Finals by a score of 4-1, and were 39 seconds away from coming home up 2-0, before Rush forward Derek LeBlanc beat Chris Whitley to send the game to overtime. Blaine Jarvis would win it for the Rush 4:17 into the extra session to even the series at 1-1.
"You always wonder what if," said Allen Americans Assistant Coach Erik Adams, who was a part 2009-10 team. "We were seconds away from coming home 2-0 and you always think what if they didn't score late, would the series have turned out any different."
Adams and the Americans return to Rapid City in the post-season for the first time since 2010, with the Americans hoping to get the series off on the right foot tomorrow night.
The Americans own the best power play in the post-season, at just under 27 % (26.3). Allen went 5 for 9 with the man-advantage in Game 2, which was just one shy of the total they scored in six other playoff games this postseason (6).
Riley Gill returned to net on Saturday, stopping 22 of 23 shots faced. Gill led the Americans, and the ECHL, in victories during the regular season with 33. Head Coach Steve Martinson has yet to name a starter for Game 3.
Rylan Schwartz was back on the ice this afternoon at practice in South Dakota. The Americans bus arrived early afternoon and went right to the rink to begin preparing for Thursday night. Schwartz had 25 points in 22 regular season games with Allen during the regular season.
"It's great to be back," said Schwartz. "We have such a great team here, I'm looking forward to getting back in the lineup and contributing."
Game 3 is Thursday night, at 7:35 pm Central Time in Rapid City. You can listen for free on the Americans website or purchase the game online http://echl.neulion.com/echl/home.
If you are making the trip to Rapid City, dress warm as the temps will be in the 40's with rain this weekend. #RockYourRed
