Snappers Win Two Straight against Bees

BELOIT, WI - The Beloit Snappers beat the Burlington Bees by a score of 8-1 with the help of some great pitching and a two run homer by Joe Bennie, his third of the year.
Beloit started off hot, scoring three runs in the first inning with a double from Max Kuhn that brought in Brett Vertigan for the first run and the Bennie two run homer that made the score 3-0 rather quickly.
The Snappers never looked back after that as a 2 RBI single by Yairo Munoz to left field scored Edwin Diaz and Vertigan in the second inning to make the score 5-0. Beloit added another run in the third inning to make the score 6-0.
With Carlos Navas pitching, the Burlington Bees finally got on the board with a run that was walked in, making the score 6-1. Beloit then added two more insurance runs in the seventh inning with a line drive to left field by Sandber Pimentel to score Vertigan again and a sacrifice fly by Bennie that brought in Max Kuhn to make the game 8-1, the final score.
With Vertigan's three walks tonight, he has now walked seven times in the last two games.
Daniel Gossett got his first win of the season and goes to 1-3 as he pitched 5.2 innings, allowed four hits, one earned run, and struck out seven Bees.
The Snappers are now 12-14 on the season and conclude the series against the Burlington Bees tomorrow with a game at 11:00 AM before welcoming the Cedar Rapids Kernels to Beloit for three games.
