NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Shock (1-4, 0-1) were on the road for Week 6 Arena Football League action against the New Orleans VooDoo (2-4, 0-2) at the Smoothie King Center, falling to the VooDoo 63-66 as New Orleans kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired.

The Shock made quick work on their opening possession of the game, scoring on their second play from scrimmage on a 45-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Carson Coffman to Rashaad Carter who made a one-handed snag on the quick post to give Spokane the 7-0 lead. New Orleans fullback Roosevelt Falls would go on to score his first rushing touchdown of the night on the VooDoo's first possession to tie the game, but Spokane would again respond with a two-play scoring drive capped off by a touchdown pass from Carson Coffman to offensive lineman Mark Jackson to push the Shock to a 14-7 advantage. The VooDoo would go on to score 14 unanswered points to end the first quarter. After a game tying score on a five-yard run by Falls, defensive back Cameron McGlenn would intercept Shock quarterback Carson Coffman to set up Falls's third rushing score of the game to close out the quarter with the VooDoo leading 21-14.

Spokane continued their possession to start the second quarter, but the VooDoo defense would dig in and hold the Shock to a four-and-out on their own ten-yard line. Despite the short field, the Shock defense would respond with their own stand and force a 27-yard field goal attempt by the VooDoo that would bounce off the left upright and allow Shock defensive back JT Fitzgerald to recover. After returning the missed field goal to mid-field, a collision with an official would knock the ball loose from Fitzgerald's grasp, but Sergio Gilliam quickly recovered and took it the distance for the Shock score to tie the game at 21-21. On the ensuing kickoff, a long return by VooDoo receiver Jackie Chambers would be negated due to a holding call that would take New Orleans back to their own one-yard line. On the next play from scrimmage, Shock defensive lineman James Ruffin would lay a big hit on VooDoo quarterback Adam Kennedy that would result in an injury and force Kennedy out of the game. Backup quarterback Brian Reader would enter and lead the VooDoo down the field, scoring on a 19-yard pass to receiver Chris Duvalt to again push New Orleans to a one score lead at 28-21. The Shock would respond as Coffman would find Truesdell for a 19-yard touchdown to again tie the contest. New Orleans would score once more before the half on a nine-yard pass from Reader to receiver Roger Jackson. With just under one minute remaining, Shock quarterback Carson Coffman would lead the Spokane offense down the field and connect with receiver Anthony Amos in the back corner of the end zone to tie the game at 35-35 at the end of the second quarter.

New Orleans? opened the second half with a scoring drive capped off by fullback Roosevelt Falls's fourth rushing score of the game to take the 42-35 lead. On the Shock's ensuing possession, a tipped pass would be intercepted by VooDoo defensive back Tracy Belton and taken back for the defensive score to give New Orleans a two-score lead at 49-35 with just over four minutes remaining in the quarter. The Shock would respond as Carson Coffman would connect with rookie receiver Anthony Amos for a 17-yard touchdown pass, but New Orleans would quickly match with their own score on a 36-yard touchdown pass from Reader to Duvalt to push the game back to a two-score lead in favor of the VooDoo at 56-42 to end the third quarter.

The Shock would continue their drive into the start of the third quarter at the New Orleans four-yard line. After a rushing attempt would result in a two-yard loss, VooDoo jack-linebacker Jeremy Grier would then jump the slant route and intercept Shock quarterback Carson Coffman to give New Orleans the ball at their own one-yard line. VooDoo quarterback Reader would lead New Orleans down the field, but a fumble after a completed pass would give the ball back to Spokane and set up a 17-yard touchdown pass from Coffman to Amos to pull the game back within one score at 48-56 after a missed point after attempt. The VooDoo would respond, working their way down field while being aided by a defensive pass interference penalty to set up fullback Roosevelt Falls's fifth rushing score on the night to push the game back to a two-score lead at 63-48. On Spokane's next possession Carson Coffman would scramble into the end zone for the six-yard touchdown, but a failed onside kick attempt with one minute remaining would set up a short field for New Orleans. Only needing to go 11-yards, the Shock defense would dig in and force the VooDoo to attempt a field goal that would be missed for the second time on the night by Lindholm. Taking over possession, Shock quarterback Carson Coffman would lead Spokane down the field and score on a touchdown pass to Rashaad Carter and then convert on the two-point attempt on a pass to Mike Washington to tie the game at 63-63 with eight seconds remaining. On the ensuing kickoff, Shock kicker Taylor Rowan's kick would go wide left of the net and set the VooDoo up on the 20-yard line. After two pass attempts, New Orleans would kick a 40-yard field goal as time expired for the 66-63 win over Spokane.
