Americans Fall to Rush 4-2 in Game 1

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans dropped Game 1 of the series with Rapid City tonight, 4-2, as the Rush held off a late Allen charge, sealing the victory on an empty netter late in the third period to steal Game 1.
Cody Ferriero, opened the scoring for the Rush, 11:53 into the opening period, scoring his 4th of the post-season on the power play to give Rapid a 1-0 lead. Allen would tie the score with 2:03 left in the first, when Gary Steffes poked one home on a Chris Crane pass to make it a 1-1 game after 20 minutes of play.
Rapid City answered in the second when Daniel Barczuk tipped home 2nd of the playoffs on a great pass from in front of the net from Jesse Schultz, to give Rapid City back its one goal lead 2-1. The Rush held that lead going into the intermission, despite being outshot 14-3 in the second period.
Winston Day Chief made it a 3-1 lead, knocking home his 2nd of the playoffs after a perfect feed from Kevin Harvey to give the Rush a two-goal cushion. Day Chief's goal would turn out to be the game winner for Rapid City. Allen cut the lead to 3-2 on Spencer Asuchak's 4th; however Rapid City added an empty netter late from Dylan Clarke to reestablish it's two goal lead and a 4-2 win over the Americans in Game 1.
The Americans outshot the Rush 38-22 for the game, but came up a little short on the scoreboard. The Rush have a 1-0 series lead headed into Saturday night's Game 2 in Allen.
The Americans will hold an Open House tomorrow afternoon from 12-4, followed by a tailgate party in front of the arena from 4-7. Bounce houses, putting for AT&T Byron Nelson tickets, courtesy of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Beer Garden and dogs & burgers on the grill, a live pregame show beginning at 4, as well as the Ice Angels signing autographs in front of the arena from 5-6. Come one, come all and cheer the Americans on to victory.
