Tulsa Shock News Release

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa Shock has partnered with Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) for the second consecutive year, to deliver the PSO Electrical Safety message to children through an elementary school poster-making contest.

Students in Tulsa-area schools are invited to create posters with the theme of "Play it Safe Around Electricity!" to be entered into the contest. Judges will select three schools with winning posters to be awarded $250 gift cards to purchase classroom supplies. Both the Shock and PSO support combining the arts with education to engage young students, with the goals of encouraging creativity and increasing safety awareness.

"We are pleased to be working with our partners at PSO as we both continue to educate our Tulsa area school children about the importance of electrical safety," Shock team president Steve Swetoha said. "It is a fun way for kids to learn and use their creativity on a poster that will hopefully increase their awareness of safety around electricity."

The requirements to enter the contest are:

?- Create a "Play it Safe Around Electricity!"-themed poster featuring Public Service Company of Oklahoma's mascot Louie the Lightning Bug, and the Tulsa Shock's mascot Volt

?- Poster dimensions may range from 11"x17" to 17"x24"

?- Teachers may complete the submission form at http://bit.ly/1zl3aDe and will need to send their classroom's posters to the Shock's business office at Two West Second St., Suite 150, Tulsa, OK 74103 by May 22, 2015

"The opportunity to reach kids with an important safety message and to do it in a fun way is one of the great benefits of PSO's partnership with the Tulsa Shock" said John Harper, PSO vice president of external affairs. "Given the success we had with last year's poster contest, we're looking forward to reaching even more kids this year."

The top 20 posters will be displayed during the Volt's Birthday game presented by PSO on Tuesday, July 21 at 11:30 am versus Washington. Representatives from PSO and the Tulsa Shock will select the three winners and they will be announced during the game and presented with their gift cards.

The Shock's first home game of the 2015 season is Saturday, June 6 versus the Chicago Sky at 7:00 p.m. CST at the BOK Center. Tickets are on sale now at www.tulsashock.net or by calling 918-949-9700.
