Wass Sends Bees Home Winners

(Burlington-IA)-Wade Wass gave the Bees a 3-2 win, over the Kane County Cougars, with a walk off single in the 13th inning, in the series finale at Community Field on Thursday afternoon.

Starting pitchers, Austin Robichaux, and Brent Jones, traded scoreless innings until the top of the fifth inning. Kane County took the lead thanks to a Jose Queliz single, scoring Victor Reyes, putting Kane County on top 1-0.

The Cougars added to their lead in the seventh inning. With a runner on and two outs, Josh Elander, doubled to centerfield, scoring Cody Regis, upping Kane County's lead to 2-0. Elander was thrown out at third base, trying to advance on the throw.

It took until the eighth inning, but the Bees jumped on the board in the bottom half. Caled Adams reached base on a single and later moved to third. With Zach Houchins at the plate, Adams came home to score on a wild pitch, cutting the Bees' deficit to 2-1.

Down to their final out, with a runner at second, Michael Hermosillo sent a blooper down the right field line, that fell out of the reach of Fernery Ozuna, scoring Linares, sending the game to extra innings, tied at two.

It took until the 13th inning for a team to break through in extras. Zach Houchins led off the inning with a double, then moved to third on a wild pitch. Wade Wass collected his third hit of the game, lining a single to left, scoring Houchins, giving the Bees to 3-2 win.

Alex Klonowski (1-2) earned the win while Cougars' reliever, Nick Baker (1-1) was charged with the loss.

The Bees hit the road to start a three game series in Peoria, at 7:00, tomorrow night against the Chiefs. Sean Newcomb makes the start for the Bees in game one of the series.
