Fri., Apr. 24 - PENGUINS 5 vs. Syracuse 1

Kasperi Kapanen scored twice and Carter Rowney notched three points (1G-2A) as W-B/Scranton claimed a 5-1 victory over Syracuse in Game 1. Leading 1-0 in the second, the Penguins broke open the game with three goals over a span of 100 seconds as Rowney found the back of the net in between two Kapanen tallies. Matt Murray turned away 22- of-23 shots.

Sat., Apr. 25 - PENGUINS 4 vs. Syracuse 0

Matt Murray stopped all 27 shots he faced as the Penguins defeated the Crunch, 4-0. Three out of four goals came from the special teams as Jayson Megna, Carter Rowney and Tom Kostopoulos all capitalized on first-period power play opportunities.

*Sat., May 2 - PENGUINS vs. Syracuse - Game 5 ECQF

This series is the third all-time meeting between the Penguins and Crunch in the Calder Cup Playoffs. Wilkes- Barre/Scranton's first-ever postseason appearance came against Syracuse in the 2001 Western Conference Quarterfinal with the Penguins winning the best-of-five series in five games. This series also marks the rematch of the 2013 Eastern Conference Final in which the Crunch defeated to the Penguins in five games to reach the first Calder Cup Final in team history.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is 6-6 in the playoffs versus Syracuse, including a 2-3 record on the road. Syracuse's all-time postseason record stands at 45-48 and 27-22 on home ice. The Penguins have a record of 19-12 in series-clinching games.

Ice Chips

- Rookie Kasperi Kapanen tallied two goals in his Calder Cup Playoff debut in Game 1 on Friday versus Syracuse and is tied for the AHL rookie lead with three goals overall.

- Scott Harrington registered a league posteseason-best +4 plus-minus rating on Friday in Game 1.

- After posting two assists in seven playoff games last season, Carter Rowney has already recorded four points (2G-2A) over his first two matches of this year's postseason and is tied for third in the league.

- The Penguins have won 11 of 14 series when claiming the first game.

- In the six previous series that the Penguins have held a 2-0 lead, they have gone on to win each time.

- W-B/Scranton has outscored Syracuse by a 4-0 margin in the first period.

- Matt Murray's 27-save shutout in Game 2 on Saturday was the first in the playoffs for the Penguins since May 22, 2013 when Brad Thiessen made 34 saves in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal versus Providence.

- He also became the first Penguins rookie to record a shutout since John Curry blanked the Portland Pirates, 2-0, on May 14, 2008 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final.
