Stingrays Playoff Game Preview: Stingrays Return Home to Tangle with Royals in Game 6 Tonight

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays host the Reading Royals in Game 6 of the East Division Semifinals tonight at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum. The Stingrays lead the best-of-seven series 3-2.

Game 1 Recap:

The Stingrays' power play shined bright in Game 1, going 2-for-6 against the Royals. Forward Joe Devin capitalized on the man advantage early in the second period for a 1-0 Stingrays lead and defenseman Frankie Simonelli buried the game-winning maker with the extra skater 7:21 into double overtime. The Royals jumped on the score sheet late in the second period off a tally from defenseman Maxim Lamarche.

Game 2 Recap:

The Royals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third period behind two goals from defenseman Jordan Heywood and a marker from forward Andrew Johnston. The Stingrays responded with goals in the second period from forwards Sean Dolan and Joe Devin and outshot the Royals 12-2 in the frame, but Royals forward Ryan Cruthers stopped the Stingrays' comeback attempt with a goal early in the third period.

Game 3 Recap:

Trailing 1-0 after one period, the Stingrays scored three times in the second period and added two tallies in the third for a 5-2 victory. Forwards Andrew Rowe, Wayne Simpson and Sean Dolan each scored a goal and an assist and forward Caleb Herbert added two assists.

Game 4 Recap:

The Stingrays jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a power-play goal from defenseman Marcus Perrier, but the Royals fought off the next six Stingrays man advantages and rallied for a 4-2 victory. Forward Cam Reid recorded three assists for the Royals, defenseman Brett Flemming added two assists and forward and defenseman Jordan Hewood recorded a goal and an assist.

Game 5 Recap:

The Stingrays battled back to erase three deficits and forward Derek DeBlois provided the game-winning goal with 1:21 remaining in the third period for a 4-3 victory and 3-2 series lead. Forwards Wayne Simpson and DeBlois each registered a goal and an assist and forward Caleb Herbert added two assists.

A Chance to Close:

With a win tonight, the Stingrays will claim their first playoff series since the opening round of the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs where they defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-1 in a best-of-five series.

2015-16 Regular-Season Schedule is Here:

Yesterday afternoon, the Stingrays along with the ECHL, announced the 2015-16 regular season schedule. The schedule features six new teams and a rematch of the 2009 Kelly Cup Finals against the Alaska Aces. The schedule also features 33 of 36 home games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday at the North Charleston Coliseum.
