Moshers Shutout Puts Rush On Brink With Game 5

April 25, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL) - Rapid City Rush News Release

(MOLINE, IL) - Kevin Baker had 2 goals and an assist, Mario Lamoureux and Michael Clarke added goals of their own, but it was Evan Mosher that stole the show and blanked the Rapid City Rush on 31 shots to elevate the Quad City Mallards to a 4-0 win on Saturday night in Game 5 of the ECHL's Central Division Semifinals. The win gives the Mallards their second lead of this series, and puts the Rush on the brink of elimination, down 3-2 in the series.

For just the second time in this series, the Mallards opened up the scoring entries. Kevin Baker finished a cross-ice pass from Matt Neal in the low slot of the Rush zone and beat Rush netminder Danny Battochio to lift the Mallards to a 1-0 lead with 6:09 gone by in the first period.

The Mallards continued their second period success against the Rush, and built the first multi-goal lead in this series between both clubs. On the second Mallards power play of the game, Baker added his second of the night on a scramble in front of Battochio's crease, doubling the Mallards advantage to 2-0 at the 2:59 mark of the second period. Mario Lamoureux added his first of the season with just over five minutes to play to triple the Mallards advantage to 3-0.

Towards the end of regulation, Michael Clarke deflected a wildly bouncing puck past Battochio to lead his club to a 4-0 advantage, which the Mallards would not relinquish en route to a critical Game 5 win.

Danny Battochio fell for the third time this series, stopping 31 of 35 shots on net (2-3-0).

The Rush play a do-or-die Game 6 at Premier Home Mortgage Ice in Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on Tuesday, April 28th, with puck drop slated for 6:35 p.m. MST.
